The Plan: Activity List and Update

I have managed to knock out lots of big items on my action plan, and I'm starting to see some results.  I have already lost two pounds since starting August 15th.  I have been trying to take walks when I can including one to see the shrimp lady (she sells shrimp around the corner from my house), one to the drug store and one with the husband around the neighborhood.  I cancelled my gym membership, bought a scale, got my heart rate monitor fixed up with new batteries and finished my food diary.  The next big challenge was to see what activities might be fun and calorie burning.

I already know I like walking, roller blading, and riding my bike.  It will inevitablly rain in New Orleans to stop me from those things, so I pondered what else might work.  I found a commenter's tip super helpful and added two different dance workouts to my Netflix cue.  I tried the first one, and it is a serious workout.  I am notoriously awkward and a bit clumsy, so I waited til the husband was away on a trip and then just had fun with it.  I will be doing this again for sure, especially if it's raining.

I also got online and made a list of dance studios and gyms that offer group classes.  I am most eager to try a Barre class that combines working out with ballet moves.  I am not a ballerina but that doesn't stop me from dreaming.  I took a class in college and have never had fewer problems with my knees.  If that goes well, I am thinking about both belly dancing, pole dancing, and possibly even an burlesque class.  I basically went for ideas that burned calories, sounded fun, and were liberating.  If I can pole dance with strangers, then I have be to confident, right?  I also think it might be a great way to meet some new people around town.

I have also started to set small goals for myself like losing one pound a week (so far, so good).  I will update more about that next week and hopefully have an idea of what times and how many times I can feasibly be active in a week.  Thanks for your support guys!
